What Is EdChoice?

Ohio Ihsan Academy participates in Ohio’s EdChoice Scholarship programs, which help make private school education more accessible and affordable for families across the state.

The State of Ohio offers two EdChoice programs that allow eligible students to use public funds toward tuition at participating private schools like Ohio Ihsan Academy.

EdChoice Scholarship Programs Overview

Families may be eligible for one of two EdChoice programs:

  1. Educational Choice (EdChoice) Scholarship
  2. Educational Choice Expansion (EdChoice Expansion) Scholarship

Both programs are administered by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (ODEW).

Educational Choice (EdChoice) Scholarship Program

The EdChoice Scholarship Program provides students from designated public schools the opportunity to attend participating private schools.

This program is available to students in Kindergarten through Grade 12 who meet specific eligibility criteria established by the State of Ohio.

  • Scholarship amount:
    $6,166 per year for grades K–8

Educational Choice Expansion (EdChoice Expansion) Scholarship Program

The EdChoice Expansion Program is an income-based scholarship available to families regardless of their assigned public school.

Eligibility and award amounts are determined by household income, using the family’s Adjusted Gross Income (AGI).

  • Scholarship amount:
    Up to $6,166 per year for grades K–8

How awards are determined:

  • Families with household income at or below 450% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) receive the maximum scholarship amount.
  • Families with household income above 450% of the FPL may still qualify, but the scholarship amount is prorated based on a state-issued income chart.

How to Apply for an EdChoice Scholarship

EdChoice applications are completed directly through the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.

  • Ohio Ihsan Academy is a participating EdChoice private school.
  • Families are responsible for submitting applications on time and providing required documentation.
  • Scholarship payments are issued by the State of Ohio and applied to tuition according to school policy.
