How EdChoice Is Applied to Tuition at OIA?

Ohio Ihsan Academy school community

Ohio Ihsan Academy is committed to ensuring that high-quality education remains accessible to all families. The EdChoice Scholarship is a vital resource that allows many families to afford tuition; however, EdChoice payments from the State of Ohio begin later in the year (typically late October or November), while tuition billing begins in July. To balance equity and fairness with our responsibility for sound financial stewardship, we have updated our tuition and EdChoice application policies. These amended policies will take effect beginning in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Payment Plans A & B (Annual and Semester Plans)

Families who choose to pay their tuition upfront (either for the full year or by semester) will continue to follow the regular payment schedule.

  • EdChoice funds are applied to your account as the state sends them to the school during the year.

  • Refunds for Plans A and B will be issued only at the end of the school year (June) once all EdChoice payments have been received and reconciled.

  • This allows us to ensure accuracy and protects the school in case of changes to eligibility, state delays, or withdrawals.

Payment Plan C (Monthly Payments)

Many families who select the monthly payment plan rely on the EdChoice Scholarship to make OIA enrollment possible.

To support these families:

  • We apply the full EdChoice award amount as a credit at the start of the payment cycle in July.

  • This immediately lowers your monthly tuition payments for the year.

  • Program fees are separate and must be paid in full, as EdChoice covers tuition only.

  • If the scholarship amount changes or is delayed, we will update your payment schedule accordingly.

This approach ensures that families who depend on the scholarship are able to begin the year with a manageable monthly payment.

Why These Policies Matter

Our goal is to balance:

  • Fairness for families

  • Responsible financial stewardship

  • Clear communication

Applying EdChoice differently across payment plans reflects the reality of how families budget for tuition and allows us to serve a diverse community while protecting the school’s financial health.

If you have questions about how EdChoice will appear on your account or which payment plan is best for your family, our administration team is happy to help.
